Our Favorite Seafood Breakfast Recipes to Jump-Start Your Day

Did you know that starting your day with a protein-packed breakfast helps manage blood-sugar levels and increases brain function? Plus, slower to metabolize than simple carbs, it keeps you feeling full longer than a plate of pancakes. Seafood, especially salmon, rich in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids is one of the easiest and quickest ways to incorporate lean protein into your diet.

    Grab-and-Go Salmon Frittatas

Starting your day with a heart-healthy breakfast that sustains you until lunch can be as simple as popping one of these grab-and-go mini frittatas into the microwave before heading out the door. Make a double batch to freeze for the week. If you don’t have a muffin pan, bake the mixture in an 8-inch square baking dish and cut into squares.

Smoked Salmon and Chive Drop Biscuits

These delicious and simple-to-make biscuits are vastly better than anything you’d get from a bakery. Whip them up for out-of-town guests, a holiday brunch, bake sale, or even a host gift. We like ours warm and slathered with spicy fruit chutney or more butter, or topped with a scrambled egg. For a double dose of smoked salmon goodness, serve them with this easy Smoked Salmon Spread.

    Smoked Salmon and Leek Quiche

Smoked salmon is a natural choice for a pescatarian riff on the classic French quiche Lorraine, which uses ample amounts of smoky bacon. The perfect accompaniment is a fresh green salad with a light, tangy vinaigrette to balance the richness of the quiche.

Salmon-Potato Hash Browns with Fried Eggs

This one-skillet meal comes together so quickly, you can have it for breakfast, but we believe it’s great any time of day. Smoked salmon does double duty here. The salmon meat is a delicious protein and the skin is crisped to bacon-like perfection.

    Easy DIY Smoked Fish

Delicious home-smoked fish is not exclusive to those with fancy smokers or smoke houses. All you need is a propane or charcoal grill, wood chips, aluminum foil, and a little bit of pre-planning and patience. There’s no need to thaw the fish before brining, making prep that much easier. Great for brunch with bagels and cream cheese!
