On October 11, food vlogger Emily Mariko uploaded a 56-second video highlighting the process of making a delicious baked salmon, rice, and broccoli dish. Mariko's style is minimalist, featuring only the critical steps to a recipe without fussing over measurements or talking through the preparation. The only sounds you hear are the clank of pots or thwack of a knife cutting through cucumbers. It's ASMR for foodies and she has found an audience.

    But something different happened the next day when Mariko uploaded a new video focused on the leftovers from the previous meal. In 40 seconds, Mariko transforms leftover salmon and rice into a meal using only a microwave and a single ice cube. Soon #salmonricebowl was trending and Mariko's video garnered reactions from all over the culinary world. Good Morning America, the Today Show, and The Food Network all weighed in and were shocked that something so good could come from such a simple process.

    The best part of the recipe is that it isn't one. Add enough rice and salmon to meet your needs and once it is out of the microwave, remove the ice cube, mix, and top with whatever your heart desires. Culinary Director Grace Parisi topped her bowl with gochujang, pickled veggies, a fried egg, and seaweed.
