MORE PRODUCT DETAILS

Product Description

  • Seasonally curated to bring you the freshest catch, the Sitka Seafood Sampler Box offers a taste of some of our favorite species. We’re currently shipping 2 pieces each of halibut, lingcod, keta salmon, sockeye salmon, plus ½ pound of spot shrimp. The fish portions are 5-7 ounces, carefully frozen, and individually vacuum sealed. Lingcod and halibut are boneless and skinless while keta and sockeye salmon contain bones and skin to maintain a high-quality product. Each 1/2 lb bag of shrimp contains 10-12 pieces, head off, shell on, carefully frozen, and loosely packed.

Cooking Tips

  • Halibut shines in raw preparations like crudo(thinly sliced with lemon, oil and salt) or when prepared with Asian flavors (ginger, soy, and sesame oil). Lingcod has a mild, sweet flavor and medium, silky flakes. Pan-fry it and serve with brown butter, or poach it in a flavorful sauce. Sockeye’s robust flavor lends itself well to poke or sushi, as well as being served with flavorful sauces. Keta is very mild and leaner than other types of salmon, making it incredibly versatile. Try it battered and fried for a fish sandwich or simmered in a creamy chowder. And Spot shrimp are sweet, fresh, and slightly briny flavor, with a firm yet buttery texture — akin to cold-water lobster. Dip them into a tangy marinade before adding to kabobs for grilling, or steam them in their shells with beer, butter, and garlic for a delicious peel-and-eat dish.

Sourcing & Traceability

  • Halibut and lingcod were caught using longline and dinglebar gear in the coastal waters of Southeast Alaska and jig gear along the coast of Kodiak, Alaska. Keta and sockeye salmon were caught using gillnet gear in the coastal waters of Southeast Alaska and Bristol Bay, Alaska. The spot shrimp were caught using pot gear in the inner waters of Southeast Alaska

Founded by Fishermen, Driven by Integrity

At Sitka Seafood Market, our roots run deep in Alaska's waters. Marsh, a second-generation fisherman, started this company on the simple principle of respect for the ocean. With a commitment to sustainable fishing practices, we bring you seafood as nature intended — wild, fresh, and responsibly harvested. Marsh knows the value of working with the tides, understanding the rhythms of the sea, and passing on this knowledge to future generations.
