MORE PRODUCT DETAILS

Product Description

  • Seasonally curated to bring you the freshest catch, the Sitka Seafood Sampler Box offers a taste of some of our favorite species. We’re currently shipping 2 pieces each of sockeye salmon, coho salmon, pacific cod, and albacore tuna plus ½ pound of white gulf shrimp. The fish portions are 5-7 ounces, carefully frozen, and individually vacuum sealed. Albacore and pacific cod are boneless and skinless while coho and sockeye salmon contain bones and skin to maintain a high-quality product. Each 1/2 lb bag of shrimp contains abut 15-30 pieces, head off, shell on, carefully frozen, and loosely packed.

Cooking Tips

  • Coho has a mild flavor with medium fat content and larger flakes, making it the perfect base for all your favorite salmon recipes. Try it baked on a sheet pan with veggies and herbed butter or poached in a flavorful broth. Sockeye’s robust flavor lends itself well to poke or sushi, as well as being served with flavorful sauces. Pacific cod is mild and subtly sweet with a delicate texture. Versatile as ever, it can be swapped in for other proteins to make easy sheet-pan dinners, bowls, tacos, or sandwiches. Because it’s such a lean fish, it’s delicious simmered in creamy chowders and fragrant curries or paired with rich sauces like aioli, pesto, chimichurri, or a buttery pan sauce. Albacore has a mild flavor when raw, and a stronger flavor when cooked. Oil-poach for salads, grill with chimichurri sauce or serve raw in ceviche, sushi, or poke. And gulf shrimp have a classic shrimp flavor, with a tender texture and pleasing bite. Try them sautéed and served with pan sauces and pastas, or boiled in their shells for a peal and eat feast.

Sourcing & Traceability

  • Albacore were caught using pole and line gear off the coasts of Oregon and California. Pacific Cod were caught using longline and pot gear in the Gulf of Alaska outside Cook Inlet in Southcentral Alaska. Coho and sockeye salmon were caught using gillnet and troll gear in the coastal waters of Southeast Alaska and Bristol Bay, Alaska. The gulf shrimp were caught by our trusted partners Biloxi Shrimp and Anna Marie Shrimp, leaders in sustainable shrimping in the Gulf of Mexico. They use otter trawl gear with Turtle Excluder Devices which causes less damage to the seafloor than bottom trawls and release sea turtles unharmed.

Founded by Fishermen, Driven by Integrity

At Sitka Seafood Market, our roots run deep in Alaska's waters. Marsh, a second-generation fisherman, started this company on the simple principle of respect for the ocean. With a commitment to sustainable fishing practices, we bring you seafood as nature intended — wild, fresh, and responsibly harvested. Marsh knows the value of working with the tides, understanding the rhythms of the sea, and passing on this knowledge to future generations.
