Rooted in Community
Committed to the Future
At Sitka Seafood Market, our work begins on the water — but it doesn’t end there. As a community-focused seafood company rooted in Southeast Alaska, we believe that healthy fisheries and strong coastal communities go hand in hand. Supporting the people, ecosystems, and working waterfronts that make our business possible is a core part of who we are.

Supporting Coastal Communities
We actively invest in the fishing communities that supply our seafood. By purchasing directly from small-boat fishermen and community seafood processors, we help sustain local livelihoods and preserve independent fishing traditions in Alaska and with our partners in the Lower 48.
Our commitment extends beyond seafood purchasing. We support community organizations, youth programs, and local initiatives that strengthen Sitka and other coastal towns. Whether it’s contributing to educational programs, sponsoring community events, or helping fund marine haul outs and safety efforts, we strive to give back to the places that support us.
Fisheries Advocacy & Stewardship
Healthy fisheries require thoughtful management and long-term stewardship. We advocate for science-based fishery management that protects wild stocks, ensures responsible harvest levels, and maintains access for small-boat fishermen.
We also work to educate consumers about the importance of traceability, transparency, and sustainable fishing practices. By connecting customers directly to fishermen and their stories, we help build a deeper understanding of where food comes from — and why responsible harvest matters.
Strengthening Food Systems
As a direct-to-consumer seafood company, we are committed to improving the resilience of regional and national food systems. By shortening supply chains and prioritizing transparency, we create a model that supports fishermen while delivering high-quality, wild-caught seafood directly to families across the country.
In times of disruption — whether environmental, economic, or logistical — we work to keep seafood moving, support our fleet, and maintain stability for the communities that depend on fishing.
Supporting Communities Across the Lower 48
While our roots are in Alaska, our community extends to the places where our seafood is shared.
We support local organizations, food access initiatives, and community efforts where our members and partners live, work, and gather. From donating seafood to community meals to partnering with grassroots programs, we believe good food can bring people together and strengthen communities.
Because community isn’t just where fish are caught — it’s where meals are shared.
