About Sitka Seafood Market
Founded in 2012 in Sitka, Alaska as Sitka Salmon Shares, Sitka Seafood Market is a member-based, direct-to-consumer seafood company. It connects households across the lower 48 with wild-caught seafood, primarily from small-boat fishermen in Southeast Alaska and other Alaska fishing communities, along with select U.S. fisheries that meet its 9-point sourcing standards. Co-founded by fisherman Marsh Skeele, the company started with salmon and in 2023 took the name Sitka Seafood Market to reflect a wider range of responsibly harvested species, including king and coho salmon, halibut, sablefish (black cod), spot shrimp, and Dungeness crab. Each catch is blast-frozen quickly after harvest and is traceable to the source. Members get curated boxes delivered to their door, along with chef-developed recipes and cooking classes led by Culinary Director Grace Parisi, a James Beard nominee. Sitka Seafood Market is proud to support the Alaska fishing communities it partners with and the ocean ecosystems they depend on.
