History
Sitka Seafood Market was founded in 2012 in Sitka, Alaska by Marsh Skeele and Nic Mink. Originally named Sitka Salmon Shares, the company focused on wild Alaska salmon. As it expanded to offer halibut, sablefish (black cod), spot shrimp, Dungeness crab, and other species, it took the name Sitka Seafood Market in 2023.
Sourcing
Most of Sitka Seafood Market's seafood is harvested in Alaska. The company also partners with a small number of other U.S. fisheries, each thoroughly vetted against its 9-point sourcing standards before any fish is offered to members.
