The Chatham Harvesters Cooperative is a fishermen’s cooperative born out of a desire to counteract the modern industrial seafood model where fishermen have no say over the pricing and processing of their fish. Their co-op was formed with the mission to create local jobs, ensure fair pricing for family fishermen, and re-connect consumers with healthy seafood. Their fishermen — Doug, Luther, Shannon, and Dave — are strongly rooted in the Cape Cod community and are passionate about taking care of the ocean and feeding people sustainable seafood.

That’s why their cooperative advocate for sustainable harvesting practices, democratic decision-making within their cooperative, and greater transparency in the seafood industry overall.
