Casey and his son, Magnus, DiGennaro are proud to catch some of Sitka’s finest coho salmon, keta salmon, and lingcod aboard Casey’s historic and storied vessel, the F/V Eileen.

The Eileen was built in 1935 and is still landing quality fish almost a century later. Early records show that the Eileen was first sold in the 1950s and then again in 1974. It was a commercial fishing boat until 1990 when its owner became gravely ill. Unable to fish, he parked the boat in the Newport, Oregon harbor where an electrical mishap burnt down the entire wheelhouse. In a state of disrepair, the decrepit craft was bestowed upon the owners of the local shipyard. This could have been the end of the Eileen, but fortunately the craft was restored by local shipwrights. Now, all it needed was a fisherman to fall in love with it. That fisherman was Casey.

Casey painstakingly updated the Eileen to 21st century standard with enhancements for fish quality and safety. After all, he sometimes has his young son, Magnus, aboard. Even with numerous rebuilt parts and additions, the Eileen has the character and class characteristic of old-time small fishing boats — and of quality-oriented fishermen like Casey.
