MORE PRODUCT DETAILS

Product Description

  • Yelloweye rockfish is sweet, mild, and almost nutty, and its fillets are larger than other rockfish varieties. Yelloweye rockfish are special in part because they are less numerous and slower growing than other rockfish types. Because of this, there isn’t actually a fishery to harvest yelloweye rockfish; instead, they are caught as highly-regulated incidental catch in the halibut and sablefish (black cod) longline fisheries. Portions are 5-7 ounces, frozen, vacuum-sealed, skinless, and boneless.

Cooking Tips

  • Enjoy this rare and delicious fish sautéed and served with a lemon-caper pan sauce, rubbed with smoky spices and broiled for fish tacos, or served raw and thinly sliced with lemon, oil, and sea salt for an elegant crudo.

Sourcing & Traceability

  • Yelloweye rockfish are caught as highly-regulated incidental catch in the halibut and sablefish (black cod) longline fisheries. This batch was caught with longline gear in the coastal waters of Southeast Alaska and processed by Seafood Producers Co-Op in Sitka, Alaska.

Founded by Fishermen, Driven by Integrity

At Sitka Seafood Market, our roots run deep in Alaska's waters. Marsh, a second-generation fisherman, started this company on the simple principle of respect for the ocean. With a commitment to sustainable fishing practices, we bring you seafood as nature intended — wild, fresh, and responsibly harvested. Marsh knows the value of working with the tides, understanding the rhythms of the sea, and passing on this knowledge to future generations.
